Holidays: Sightseeing in Spain
January 9, 2008
Spain has long been praised for its exhilarating and active night life, with visitors enjoying the bars and night clubs in such cities as Barcelona, Valencia, Seville and especially Madrid.
As well as the above “hotspots”, Spain is also home to Benicassim. The four day festival has soared in popularity over the years because of the guaranteed sun, and all night acts. To top it off the festival ends with a huge beach party.
Spain has much more to offer than an excellent night life though. It presents a strong sense of its own identity ornamented with an astonishing religious history which has resulted in a country rich with breathtaking cathedrals and palaces, gorgeous rolling landscapes and a vibrant culture of art, dance, and outstanding architecture.
Firstly there is “La Sagrada Familia”, a colossal Roman Catholic temple and museum, which has been in construction for over a century.
Over the years La Sagrada Familia has been the architectural project of many influential figures, each adding their own ideas and mythologies to the temple.
Like many other architectural masterpieces throughout Barcelona, it’s a must-see for any visitor.
Situated next to the “La Catedral” in Seville is a royal palace “El Alcazar”. The palace dates back to 1364, when it was built for “Pedro the cruel” and his mistress, María de Padilla.
The gothic elements added by Charles V, contrast beautifully with the distinctly Islamic elements that Pedro incorporated. This has resulted in a palace that it considered one of the best remaining examples of mudéjar architecture.
There is an abundance of breathtaking sites throughout Spain for you to enjoy when on your holidays, some other notable examples include:
- The “Garden of Conception”
- Catedral de Toledo
- The Sanctuary of Santa María Magdalena
- The Guggenheim Museum

Travel insurance is one of the most searched from all the insurance policies available, one that is especially created in order to cover a range of financial and medical expenses, as well as other unavoidable losses that occur sometimes while traveling, be it on a local level, within one’s own country, or internationally.
Regarding its elaboration, you should know that travel insurance is one of the most “comfortable” insurances from this point of view, meaning that this particular type of insurance can usually be arranged when you book a trip and has as the specific purpose of covering all the risks that may arise within the duration of the trip. Or if you are a more “careful” person, you can always choose a continuous insurance that can easily be purchased from (in most cases) travel agents, travel insurance companies, or you can get it directly from different travel suppliers, such as cruiselines or tour operators.
Regardless of the way of purchasing it, you should definitely not leave in a trip without having some kind of travel insurance, because this specific type of insurance offers in many cases a coverage that is as complete as it is worthy of any cost and that certainly has the ability of satisfying the tastes of different tourists. Travel insurance policies have diversified at the demand of potential insured clients complaining of the lack of diverse policies, suitable to varied needs and financial possibilities. Now we can choose between adventure travel, business travel, student travel, leisure travel, cruise travel, and international travel – all these options having the possibility to be included within regular travel insurance.
The risks that are most encountered in the coverage provided by a travel insurance are:
• Accidental injury, death or disablement benefit
• Cancellation
• Curtailment
• Delayed baggage (and emergency replacement of essential items) etc.
If you have solved the insurance problem it means you have already chosen from the range of travel destinations choices the one that best suits your personal preferences. Your dream vacation should definitely include the top holiday destinations of 2007, even though the prices may be a little bit spicy. The votes have already been counted. Made Plans for the Holidays Yet?
December 20, 2007
Whenever the holidays approach, together with the feelings of excitement and joy, you may happen to feel a bit of anxiety. What is the best holiday destination? What would be the perfect place for you to relax and enjoy yourself, without having to spend a fortune? These are the questions that you have to find an answer to every year. If you have run out of inspiration, you may want to check the offers of a few travel agencies. You will surely find an offer that fits your preferences and your budget. As the winter holidays are coming soon, you may want to try some new fun winter sports or, on the contrary, you may choose an exotic tropical destination, where you can relax on the sunny beach and forget about the freezing back home. Whether you want to spend a quiet vacation at the country or an adventurous trip in the mountains, there are plenty of choices for everyone.
If you are planning to travel to a distant holiday destination, you may find out that the flight costs more than you were expecting. You might even have the unpleasant surprise to discover that the flight ticket costs you more than the accommodation. To avoid such unwanted surprises, you have to look for cheap flights. Most airline companies have special offers in order to attract customers and offer discount flights. In order to benefit from these offers, there are a few tips you can take into consideration. Firstly, don’t travel around Christmas or other holidays when the airlines are crowded, because it will be very expensive. Secondly, browse through the offers of several airlines companies or travel agencies periodically, in order to make sure you will not miss the cheap flights deals. The Internet is of great help because you can compare the prices and offers in a very short time and you don’t have to go all the way to the travel agency’s office. A simple click is enough to find out about the latest discounts.
Another good idea would be to plan your holiday a few months ahead. Most companies offer you a discount if you book your ticket a few months earlier. Perhaps it’s a little difficult to plan everything ahead, especially if you are a spontaneous person who likes to take decisions on the spot. But it’s going to be worth the effort. The cheap flights and other discounts will help you save money, money that you can use in better ways, perhaps to afford a little luxury and completely enjoy your holiday.
You can save precious time by using the Internet to look for profitable deals (such as cheap flights and other offers from the travel agencies). Most of the agencies have their own website where you can find their current offer as well as interesting information about the places you will like to visit. Don’t waste your holidays by doing the same boring things and going to the same old destination every year. As much as you would like a certain place, everyone needs variation. More important, don’t let somebody else (your spouse, parents, children) decide for you. It’s your holidays and you deserve to have fun, so if you’d rather go to the mountains, don’t go to the seaside every year just because your partner loves it. There is no such thing as a perfect vacation, but with a little planning ahead, you can spend a wonderful and unforgettable holiday.
Discover your Traveling Spirit With New Travel Destinations!
December 19, 2007
After a year of hard work, you are probably looking forward to the holiday. It’s time to explore new travel destinations, perhaps discover other cultures. The travel agencies come up every year with new challenging holiday offers for you. The Internet is an unbeatable source of information. You can always keep in touch with the latest travel offers with a simple series of clicks. But that is not all. You can now virtually explore the world. There are many websites that give you this possibility. You have the map of the world in front of you, choose your favorite travel destinations and learn everything you want to know about them, from the main attractions to the best times to visit the region, along with precious tips about the best accommodation and local habits.
Once you have chosen your destination, you have to prepare for your vacation. There are many things that you must think about: the flight, the accommodation, places you want to visit. However you must also take into an account the unpredictable, unwanted accidents that may happen during the trip. That is why travel insurance is needed. Many people neglect or simply ignore it because they regard it as a useless additional expense. However, there are many reasons why you should get travel insurance.
Nobody likes to think about bad things when planning a holiday. Nonetheless, you have to be prepared for both the goods and the bad. Travel insurance protects you against all kinds of risk that may appear during the holiday and helps you have a safe holiday. You don’t have to worry about unexpected medical emergencies or accidents as travel insurance covers the cost of medication and doctor’s fees. It also protects you and your family against the risk of robbery and theft while being on holiday. If for any reasons should the holiday get canceled, travel insurance assures that you get your money back. Some insurance companies even offer cover for the risk of missing a plane.
The winter is approaching, so if you are into winter sports, now is the right moment. The French or Swiss Alps are perfect travel destination during this time of the year. If you have never tried skiing, snowboarding or other similar sports, it’s never too late to discover a new hobby. Nothing compares to sitting next to a nice fire and drinking a glass of wine after a tiring skiing day. For the ones who don’t really like snow and cold, there are other travel destinations, like some exotic islands where you can just lie under the sun and forget about the winter back home. If you are the adventurous type, you can go on adventure trips which include adrenaline sports and spending time in the wild (which is perfect for nature lovers).
Whatever the travel destinations of your choice will be, the most important thing is to free your mind of any worries, in order to be able to enjoy your vacation. Turn off your mobile phone and your pager for at least a few days. The most spectacular landscapes cannot help you relax if all you think about is the unfinished projects at work. Don’t forget to get your travel insurance, so that your holiday will be safe and you will have peace of mind and relaxation.

Backpacking and an Exciting Holiday!
December 18, 2007
During a busy work day, most of us dream of a holiday. You wish you could just get away from everything, don’t you? The busy schedule, the unpaid bills, the cleaning up, the urgent projects at work, the grumpy boss, the annoying neighbors and their dog’s incessant barking…If any of this sounds familiar, you definitely need a holiday. Actually, when was the last time you had one? Studies show that more and more people become very preoccupied by their work and career. This is a good thing. The bad thing is that many of these people give up their free time in favor of work. Many people decide not to go on holidays, even if they are entitled to one, because they think it will make them look better in the eyes of the boss. In fact it is quite the opposite. An employee who hasn’t had a holiday in more than a year is less efficient and focused than one who has had vacation.
The explanation is simple: the human brain needs variation from time to time. Seeing the same people every day and doing the same things isn’t likely to improve your intellectual performances. A holiday is an opportunity to relax, see new places and meet interesting people, to expand your horizons. If you feel you are on the verge of becoming a workaholic, don’t hesitate. Take your partner, family or friends and go backpacking or hiking in the mountains. Some would say that they can’t afford a holiday, but this is hardly an excuse. Nobody says you have to spend a fortune. There are many cheap hostels where you can stay at.
If you don’t have any ideas about what you would like to visit, just go to the travel agency in your neighborhood. They certainly have many suggestions for you. Or better, if you don’t have the time, use the Internet to search the best offers. You will find important information such as flight discounts, cheap hostels, and maps of the region you want to visit, the most important tourist attractions, tips for the inexperienced tourist, and so on. If you still need some advice, ask your friends, neighbors or relatives to help you. They will surely come up with some good ideas. Mountain air is good for your health, so backpacking and spending time in the nature would be an excellent idea for the vacation.
If you have been married or in a serious relationship for a long time a holiday would be good for the two of you. It will help you to rediscover one another and avoid the routine. Imagine the two of you, backpacking and going away for new adventures, like you may have done when you were teenagers. It’s easy to spend a wonderful holiday. You don’t need luxury and villas. Cheap hostels will do. What you need is to forget about your everyday worries and start to enjoy life again together with the person you care about.
What you most miss about your childhood is that great feeling of freedom, right? It’s time to feel it again. Isn’t it great not to have any responsibilities at all? You can wake up at ten, have breakfast in bed and watch TV all day long or go out for a wild night in the club. That is what holidays are for, relaxing and maybe living a little bit of your childhood again. If you can’t have a vacation yet, take your family and go backpacking for the weekend. Plan a few days’ trip in a place you have never visited before and spend the night at one of the charming little cheap hostels. You will feel fresh and full of energy afterwards, ready to face another busy week at work.

Business Owners: Five Surprising Changes That Affect Business Travel
November 16, 2007
In 2003, I took my business on the road for three months while traveling by car around much of North America. In 2007, I took almost as long for a road trip from Massachusetts to Alaska and back. In those four years, several things changed that significantly affected some practicalities of taking care of business when away from the office and one’s home base for that long a time. If you’re planning extensive business travel and haven’t been on the road in a couple of years, some of these changes might come as a surprise to you, too.
1. Internet access. In 2003, high-speed Internet was a specialty item in the hospitality industry, restricted to a few name-brand hotel and coffee-shop chains. Before I left on my 2007 trip, several people told me blithely, “Wi-fi is everywhere now.” I’m glad I looked skeptically at that assessment.
